The environmental perspective
Oxdenmarq makes furniture that lasts, not furniture
whose existence is based on the notion that it is easier to
buy new than to care for what you have.
Our furniture makes use of material that ages with beauty
as it patinaties over its lifetime being used by humans.
It is meant to be used - and you’re meant to see it.
As we see it, imperfections in natural materials are the real
beauty of nature. An insect bite is to us not a 昀氀aw, but a sign
that the animal has led a natural life in the outdoors.
We wouldn’t dream of throwing away a big nice piece of
leather just because of this naturally occurring imperfection.
Of course we use it.
Cared-for leather lasts for decades, whether or not it has
insect bites or scars. As our furniture lives with us, it is
bound to be worn or even damaged in certain places.
We encourage caring for our furniture by replacing these parts
with new spare ones as well as maintaining the quality of the
materials with care. This way, your chair can be passed down
through generations, or if you choose to switch it out, it doesn’t
have to be thrown away but sold for someone else to enjoy.
In the world of Oxdenmarq, sustainability means to buy less
and to buy better.
